Sometimes when you are driving along an interstate through the city, you can see a car that has broken down on the side of the highway with a tow truck that has pulled up next to it with its flashers on. Most times, drivers don't know what to do when such situations come up and choose to continue their journey. Most cars will whiz past the truck at a very high speed, not knowing the danger that this action could cause.

However, we recognize that many people driving in the United States are not aware that every state in the country usually has a Move Over law. A driver is instructed that when they see an emergency car that has pulled over on the side of the road, one is supposed to change the lanes they are driving in to give space where possible. If moving over is not possible because of lack of lanes or thick traffic, then the driver can slow down to 15 mph below the required speed limit.
It is believed that over 200 roadside workers are hit by motorists every year by vehicles that do not comply with the Move Over law. This usually occurs because of the driver's lack of awareness. We hope that you’ll help Perkins Motor Plex to spread the word and next time be on the forefront when you see an emergency truck on the roadside.
